1.     Apologies

1.1.     Mike Abbott sent his apologies.

2.     Approval of Minutes and Matters Arising

2.1.     The minutes were approved by the Captain and there were no matters arising.

3.     Company Matters

3.1.     Administration – The Administrator, Dr Carlos Inacio, has informed us that he would no longer be seeking the Creditors approval to close the business of GSA. This is largely due to some cost reduction activities he has undertaken, and also better than expected income due to easing of Covid restrictions allowing more visitors and increased golf revenues. This is obviously good news and gives stability to the golf course. The administrator will now go ahead with the marketing and eventual sale of the resort.

3.2.     Document Store – Many of our members are also property owners on the resort. There is an old and poorly maintained store of Vigia / GSA / QDC documents on site relating to build costs etc that may be useful to owners. Negotiations have started to secure the documents before their condition deteriorates too much further. We will keep members informed as this matter progresses.

4.     Treasurer’s report

4.1.     The income for September has improved substantially due to a much larger competition entry and the success of the Autumn Series competitions.

4.2.     The Christmas Hamper Competition will also be the Members Day, 5th December, and will be fully subsidised by the Club.

4.3.     Current net assets €21,308.83

5.     Captain’s Update

5.1.     The two Advent competitions will be the Christmas Hamper/Members Day on the 5th December and the Sagitarius Salver on the 8th December. GSA will be holding an AmAm competition on the 6th and a Yellow Ball competition on the 7th.

5.2.     The choice of yellow and white tees in singles competitions is to continue, members are asked to clearly mark their cards to indicate which tee they have played from. Playing handicaps are used to determine the prizes.

5.3.     Pre Covid rules apply in all competitions and cards should now be exchanged and marked as they were pre Covid. Rakes are back in bunkers, please use them, and flags may be removed.

6.     Vice Captain’s Update

6.1.     Peter Noone thanked Mary for organising her Captain’s Day and the Autumn Series competitions and congratulated her on their success.

7.     AOB

7.1.     The Club have no influence over the current buggy situation, it is a GSA matter. This is not the only course in the Algarve experiencing these problems.

7.2.     Rod Smith proposed getting new ties and scarves for Past Captains and Chairmen and will source a supplier for these.
