CAPTAINS BLOG, SEPTEMBER ’18

Captain’s Blog September 2018

So here we are all ready for the busy month of September It’s so good to be out here and hopefully I will be here for the rest of the month.
Just a few things (in no particular order) to keep you up to speed.
Our club is in a good position in the Inter Club League and have 2 very difficult away matches in October which will test our metal. Our first match on Thursday 13th September is at Boavista and I would invite members to turn out and support our panel of players as we try to “bring home the bacon”. Your10 minute drive might just be the “DRIVE” our team needs.
What a pleasure it is to play PDF at the moment. Congratulations to Nelson and his team for presenting our course in such good condition. The definition of the fairways and the beautiful greens are a joy to the eye, even when the golf is not up to scratch.
Captains Day on the 15th, and I am looking forward to having most of my family here for the event. I wish you all a good game and an enjoyable day. Take some cash out to 11th tee, and try beat the “Pro” to enter a draw for a super prize. I will also have an “enter as many times as you want” draw, for a new set of Taylor Made Irons (Mens or Ladies, depending on the lucky winner).
All proceeds from the 2 events will go to support the Captain’s Charities. A separate prize for men and ladies for nearest the pin on the 15th should keep your game sharp.
Have Fun and Keep Smiling
A big thank you to Mick Berry and his team of volunteers who, week in week out keep this club ticking over
I am pleased to advise that our Club is in a healthy position and that the increase in membership over the past 2 years has been the major factor for this. With this in mind, I would ask all members to encourage family, friends, and visitors, to consider joining our club.
Am looking forward to the Autumn Festival and have my Irish contingent under pressure to win at least one prize after 4 years trying. The beer and wine are being locked away and a midnight curfew will be in place !!!!!
The best of luck to Rui and his team for another successful Festival.
Finally, Just a reminder that full payment for the Captains away day will be required by the 30th September.
Yours in golf
Frank
