CAPTAINS BLOG, FEBRUARY 2015

The new golfing year has already started and The Captains Changeover took place on the 17th of January and 100 golfers took part in good golfing weather. The golf was followed latter in the evening by 110 people enjoying the Dinner,Dancing and the Prize giving. We said farewell to Captain Bob who was warmly thanked for his services to the club over the last two years.Rod Smith our new vice captain was welcomed into office, Rod will be a great asset to the club and I look forward to working with him over the next year.

The good weather did not last long and the Sunday competition was mired in heavy rain with only 11 people completing the course. Fortunately the weather improved and the following competitions were well supported.

Over the next three months starting in February we are going to trial a monthly medal in place of one of the stableford competitions. Depending on the level of support, the standard of play, the time taken to complete the rounds and taking into account members views the committee will then make a decision about the future of the medals for the rest of the year.

In terms of the general competitions we are trying to introduce some variations this year and any suggestions would be welcome. We have some exciting young golfers this year who could potentially give our club champion Michael Abbott a run for his money in this years club championship in June.

We also have several new members this year along with some old friends returning, you are all most welcome. Finally may I wish all off you a great golfing year, played in glorious sun shine.

Your Captain,

David
